On Saturday, abortion activists interrupted the International Gift of Life Walk in Lower Manhattan by throwing garbage onto the street to block the pro-life procession temporarily. Reports and photos reveal that the New York City police had to stop the march and remove the bags of trash before allowing the pro-life crowd to continue their peaceful march. Bernadette Patel, a pro-life advocate who attended the event, said that the walk is a “prayer vigil and witness” to show that there are pro-life supporters in New York City. Sadly, New York City is one of the worst places for unborn babies. According to the city health department, 49,784 unborn babies were aborted in 2019 alone in New York City. Moreover, the number of unborn African American babies that are aborted in the city is often higher than the number of babies born annually.

Meanwhile, pro-life supporters in New York have been facing increasing hostility. A pregnancy center was firebombed and later vandalized in two separate attacks since June, and abortion activists frequently disrupt pro-life events in the city. Patel noted that last year’s Life Walk was peaceful compared to Saturday. Photos by photojournalist Jeffrey Bruno demonstrate police escorting the pro-life crowd through the streets while keeping the abortion activists at a distance.

Abortion activists used cowbells and shouted in an attempt to drown out the pro-life event and later threw dozens of bags of garbage and traffic cones into the street ahead of the walk. A video by Timcast News shows the police halting the march while pro-abortion activists continue throwing garbage onto the street in front of them. The officers had to remove the trash to allow the march to proceed.

For the left “freedom of choice” means shoving their garbage under your feet, and shoving their opinion down your throat.

Why weren’t they cited for Littering? or arrested for endangering public safety?
