According to a new poll, Joe Biden’s radical stance on abortion is way outside of the average American norm.
The new poll, released by the highly regarded polling operation at Marist University, shows that more than three-quarters of Americans support significant abortion restrictions–including pro-abortion Americans.
The survey has a 3.5 percent margin of error and was conducted among 1,000 Americans. While the survey found that a majority of Americans identify as pro-abortion at 53 percent versus pro-lifers at 43 percent, most Americans agree that abortion should be limited to the first three months of pregnancy, “if it’s permitted at all.”
Just 15 percent of respondents don’t want any restrictions on abortion, including less than one-third of pro-abortion Americans. The slim minority appear to support abortion even up until the moment of birth, as denoted by Joe Biden’s stance:
Biden’s pro-abortion stance:
As president, Biden will work to codify Roe v. Wade, and his Justice Department will do everything in its power to stop the rash of state laws that so blatantly violate the constitutional right to an abortion, such as so-called TRAP laws [or targeted restrictions on abortion providers], parental notification requirements, mandatory waiting periods, and ultrasound requirements
Biden wants to codify Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision legalizing abortion-on-demand, into law, which is in stark opposition to most Americans, per the Marist survey.
Most respondents said that if the Supreme Court were to reconsider Roe, “it should either make abortion illegal or allow restrictions on abortions as determined by each state. Less than one-third said the Court should maintain the position that abortion should be legal without any restrictions,” reports the National Review.
In the poll, 20% of Democrats surveyed described themselves as “pro-life,” despite the Democratic Party vehemently opposing restrictions on abortion.
