It was announced on Tuesday that a pro-abortion documentary that demonizes pro-lifers, “Abortion Hotline, This is Lisa,” had been nominated on the “shortlist” for the “Documentary Short Subject” category at 93rd Academy Awards.

The film is about an abortion hotline in Philadelphia that helps women pay to end the lives of the children in their wombs by calling the hotline that would help them fund their travel, procedure, and other costs associated with their abortions.

The film, which splices in footage of floor debate from 1977 when the Hyde Amendment was enacted, an amendment to budget bills that bars American taxpayers from funding abortions. The documentary takes exception with the legislation and its sponsor, former Rep. Henry Hyde (R-IL).

But the documentary looks to damage Hyde’s reputation while demonizing pro-lifers who do not support funding abortion. A write up on the anti-life website “Women Make Movies” describes “Abortion Hotline, This is Lisa” as follows:

The callers, seeking to control their fertility and family size, and the counselors—college students grappling with their capacity to help women in need— flesh out the lived reality of those affected by the Hyde Amendment.

But despite the documentary’s spin, leading polls, such as the A+ rated Marist College poll reveal that most Americans oppose taxpayers funding abortion, with six in ten Americans opposing it. Nevertheless, coastal elites in Hollywood want to propagate abortion as the answer to life’s largest problems, which may be why they nominated this film for the film industry’s most prestigious award.
