Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam has been under fire for a recent bill to try to force Virginians to fund abortions through new state law.

In a statement, Arlington Bishop Michael Burbidge and Richmond Bishop Barry Knestout described the law as “deplorable policy” that perpetuates the lie that aborting an unborn baby is “health care,” the Catholic News Service reports.
Northam, the Democrat leader notorious for defending infanticide, signed a law last week to repeal a ban on elective abortion coverage in the state Affordable Care Act health exchange, which is subsidized by tax dollars.
The Catholic bishops and pro-life organizations urged Northam and lawmakers to reject the abortion expansion, but the Democrat-controlled state legislature passed it anyway. It goes into effect July 1.
“Under state law for the past decade, plans participating in Virginia’s health exchange were prohibited from covering most abortions,” the bishops said. “This fundamentally pro-life provision undoubtedly saved many lives.”
Now these health care plans will cover abortion on demand for any reason, subsidized by taxpayers, they continued.
“We decry the enactment of this deplorable policy, which is built on the destructive lie that abortion is health care,” Burbidge and Knestout said in the statement. “We are saddened when we contemplate the increased number of unborn lives likely to be lost as a result.”
The bishops said the law will not discourage them from continuing to fight for unborn babies.
“Without despair, and with maximum determination, we will continue our advocacy for the preeminent priority of protecting unborn children from this threat,” they said. “So many lives, who have no voice except ours, depend on it.”

Bishops need to take a stronger stance. How about excommunicate all abortion supporters? They obviously are going against God’s law.
I agree. The Catholic bishops are like a lot of the republicans in congress. Talk a lot and no action. Let’s start with Biden. Going to church every Sunday and carrying around rosary beads do not make you a good Catholic. Follow the commandments (thou shalt not kill)) for one. Biden is a baby killer.
As a Virginian, I am so saddened that our Governor, a DOCTOR, takes such a horrific stance on life of the most vulnerable. I’m concerned Virginia is on the same track as California, New York, and some of these other states destroyed by political tyranny. Thank goodness for these Bishops and they’re voicing the truth. God help us.

What a bunch of hypocrites: the bishops and the Catholic voters in Virginia. The bishops who allow a man, Biden, to take communion knowing full well that he not only approves of abortion but advocates for its public funding. The Catholics in Virginia who claim they are pro-life yet vote for those who would argue for bills to support the death of innocents in the womb.
Northum is a creepy murderer and will answer one day. The bishops must continue their campaign to save babies. Catholics who vote demorat are fostering abortion.
Will Catholics learn that a vote for democrats is a vote for the party of death. We have been fooled by the fake compassion that the democrats have and the lies that the republicans are the ones that are evil. If we do not recognize evil as the democrats and stand against them – not voting for them, defending the unborn- then we are doomed to be as evil as they are.

How about all the funds that flow from the Federal Treasury to Planned Parenthood. Is this not just as bad or even worse?
Why did it take this long before someone from the Catholic church to come out against Governor Northam? The guy has been pushing infanticide for goodness sakes and it takes years to get the Catholic church to say something?
Virginians ought to be ashamed of themselves, but it all fits with their Liberalism. Wish more of their parents would have exercised their love for abortion. It’s really about little regard for life and sheer laziness to avoid possible pregnancy to begin with.

The Catholic Bishops were totally afraid of the Communist Democrats going into the 2020 elections For religious people they were a complete failure to protect the unborn.They should resign as Bishops.
And he is a PEDIATRIC neurologist. He is headed for the smoking section of eternity. His kids should feel lucky that he didn’t abort them. Or did he abort others that no one knew about I wouldn’t take a child to him. I wonder if he would do all he could to save a child or would he write them off
