On Wednesday, in remembrance of Christ’s Passion on the cross in atonement for our sins, Pope Francis said he is thinking of the innocent victims of war, everyday violence, and abortion who are “crucified in our time.”

“By adoring the Cross, we will relive the journey of the innocent Lamb sacrificed for our salvation. We will carry in our minds and hearts the sufferings of the sick, the poor, the rejected of this world; we will remember the ‘sacrificed lambs,’ the innocent victims of wars, dictatorships, everyday violence, abortions,” said Pope Francis.

He urged Catholics “not to forget today’s crucified ones” because “in them is Jesus.”

Jesus on the cross entered into “the abyss of suffering … these calamities of this world, to redeem and transform,” he said. “And also to free each of us from the power of darkness, from pride, from the resistance to being loved by God,” continued Francis.

“Before the image of the crucified God, we will bring, in prayer, the many, the too many who are crucified in our time, who can only receive from Him the comfort and meaning of their suffering.”

The Pope added that because “Jesus took upon himself the wounds of humanity and death itself, God’s love has irrigated these deserts of ours, he has enlightened our darkness.”

“Christ’s Cross is a sign of the hope that does not disappoint; and it tells us that not even one tear, not one sigh is lost in God’s plan,” Pope Francis concluded.

What are your thoughts on Pope Francis’ remembrance for babies in the womb who have been “crucified” through abortion?

No one’s buying these crocodile tears. If he was truly moved, he’d DO something. He has the position and the power. He has the moral authority. He was selected to be the leader. Hasn’t picked up the phone to call Joe or Nancy. Not much of a leader.
Surely there’s a bishop in there somewhere who truly has God’s will at heart. If no one takes a stand, then their judgment is on themselves.

Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. James 3:1
