At the 2017 March for Life

On Monday, the United States Supreme Court announced it would consider Missouri’s 15-week abortion ban bill, which has reportedly been struck down and appealed by other lower courts.

The case could be a big one that could chip away at or even overturn Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision legalizing abortion-on-demand across the United States.

According to the New York Post, “The justices had put off action on the case for several months. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, an abortion-rights proponent, died just before the court’s new term began in October. Her replacement, Justice Amy Coney Barrett, is the most open opponent of abortion rights to join the court in decades.”

After the announcement, both sides of the argument weighed in, with pro-abortion Rewire News Group contributor Renee Bracey Sherman writing, “Reporters: as you’re covering this please remember to interview people who’ve had abortions after 15 weeks for different reasons, including barriers the anti-abortion movement intentionally set up to delay people’s access as soon as they want care. Antis did this on purpose.”

She added, “When defending later abortion, please stop saying it’s a small percentage of abortion and only for medical indication. It’s not doing what you think it’s doing. It’s stigmatizing, not accurate, and erases all of the people who need care later because they encountered barriers.”

Pro-lifers responded much differently, with Students for Life of America sharing a GIF from the television show The Office with the character Michael Scott shouting, “Oh my God! Okay, it’s happening!”

The pro-life legal group Americans United for Life wrote on Twitter, “This could be the most important life-related Supreme Court case in a generation.”

The development of a baby is a natural biological occurrence, not a disease or a medical condition requiring “treatment”.

Will the Supreme Court FINALLY end one of the greatest abuses of the Constitution that was committed by the Court when it invented a nonexistent constitutional right to kill unborn babies, merely because delivering the baby would be an inconvenience.
