In a May letter, the Vatican warned pro-life Catholic bishops against denying Holy Communion to pro-abortion politicians.

Life News quotes the New York Times:

The Vatican has warned conservative American bishops to hit the brakes on their push to deny communion to politicians supportive of abortion rights — including President Biden, a faithful churchgoer and the first Roman Catholic to occupy the Oval Office in 60 years.

But despite the remarkably public stop sign from Rome, the American bishops are pressing ahead anyway and are expected to force a debate on the communion issue at a remote meeting that starts on Wednesday.

“The concern in the Vatican,” said Antonio Spadaro, a Jesuit priest and close ally of Francis “is not to use access to the Eucharist as a political weapon.”

Pope Francis, who has explicitly identified the United States as the source of opposition to his pontificate, preached this month that communion “is not the reward of saints, but the bread of sinners.” His top doctrinal official, Cardinal Luis Ladaria, wrote a letter to the American bishops, warning them that the vote could “become a source of discord rather than unity within the episcopate and the larger church in the United States.”

The result is a rare, open rift between Rome and the American church.

In their meeting this week, Catholic bishops are to vote on a document from their Committee on Doctrine “with the aim of clarifying the church’s stance” on pro-abortion politicians and the reception of the Eucharist.

The Bishops have to go by their conscience and obey God. The pope is NOT God is wrong by asking them to go against the word of God and God himself.

If they read their Bible the won’t have to go by their conscience, The people should go by their own conscience as the Bible says

The New York Time’s knowledge of Catholicism is non-existent. They view religion as politics by another name because their editors’ religion IS their politics. Biden my be a “churchgoer” by habit or for the optics, but his actions are those of an unrepentant and proud sinner who is “devout” only to the metaphysics of socialism and the “woke religion.”

The political activist pope is now saying don’t get involved with politics? Maybe he should take his own advice and stay out of politics too. Clean up your own church scandals first, and then stick to the bible you are supposed to support.

Why on earth would Karry spend our tax dollars to go see the Pope about climate change. He has no power over the world to do anything about it. All he knows about the weather is that it is raining , snowing , sun shining or windy. There must be another reason.

This does not surprise me at all. While I’m not Catholic I do know about Catholic values and from what I’ve seen little p is a leftist who has turned a blind eye to the sins of homosexuality and abortion and steering the Catholic Church in the direction of accepting those sins. To me that makes him a poor representative of and especially poor leader of the Catholic Church. Furthermore, we are seeing the left taking control of Christian denominations including the Catholic Church so I find the resignation of the mostly conservative Pope Benedict XVI and the installation of Francis quite suspicious.

……communion “is not the reward of saints, but the bread of sinners.” Sinners that have recognized that they are sinners and have repented and have sinned no more. These so call catholic politicians that promote abortion are sinners yes, but they will no more repent and sin no more than vote with the republicans.
Big difference.

You bet God is watching. This red-hearted socialist pope is a good reason to turn Orthodox.

This is not a political hostage taking situation and yes the sacrament is the bread of sinners…but I’m pretty sure there’s a little matter of repentance.

I suppose Bergoglio meant “the bread of sinners” who regret their sins and at least try to follow our Lord? How could Bergoglio possibly have meant “sinners” who gloat at their sins, boast of them and vow to persist ever harder at them? Would a Pastor of our faith in his right mind, -never mind a POPE- ever do that? Never, right? Right? Right? Am I mistaken?

If I can’t receive the sacraments because I married a divorced person. Then why would you be allowed to receive them for pushing abortion

Herbert G. Chapman

If the man you married divorced his wife because of she was slipping around , you are allowed to receive the sacrament as the Bible say’s that. You are the only person who can keep you from it. Church rule’s can’t keep you from it in the sight of the Lord. FACT. Read your Bible and stop asking other people.

When the Catholic Church can’t take a stand on one of the Ten Commandments, it is over for the Pope and the Catholic Church. At least the Pope should renounce abortion, but he can’t even do that. Pope Francis is not pro-life and needs to go now.

The POPE MUST QUIT

Miguel Sundance

Either the Church withholds the Holy Eucharist from those who will continue to support the murder of innocents for their political purposes, or the Church condones and is complicit in these horrific acts. This pope cannot have it both ways in order to maintain the support of the wealthy abortion/murder supporting politicians for his own purposes. God does not play games with semantics. The pope needs to take a stand or depart. A great schism is about to occur.

Thou shat not kill, one of the mighty Ten Commandments. Faithful Christians do not murder the innocent unborn, or call themselves faithful to God who head corrupt crime families such as the Biden’s do

Abortion enablers do not share the faith of genuine Catholics therefore have nothing in common with them. They certainly have no business at the altar of Communion with us. This is no use of communion as a political weapon since murder is never primarily a political concern but one of the exercise of the most basic individual justice and of the morality that must arise from the true humanity we inherit from within from our Creator. I would dare any truly faithful Catholic bishop to make a case otherwise that is based upon any sound Christian teaching. The current crop of self-centered and corrupted clerical leadership in the Catholic Church has taken up the rhetoric and the cause of worldly bound religious fools who disgust Satan as much as they do faithful Catholics who know them for their rank complacency to the horrors of sin. They can expect swift judgement for their misleading of otherwise faithful into the cowardice which enables among many, many other disobedient and sinful dispositions, the embrace of the sin of genocide against our children. If they continue to spurn repentance of their corruption, the lot of Harrod will be better than for them. All that is needed for their crimes against children and against faithful Catholics to be exposed will be the record of the useless and misleading public declarations, such as those made here, that they have employed in their incessant attempts to deceive vulnerable Catholics. Instead of encouraging our efforts to spurn the determined unfaithful and attend God alone, attending also His true desires as Jesus did and taught, our leaders have been working tirelessly in their promotion of complacency with respect to even the most inhuman of sins. In their efforts to undermine and collapse once and for all the true underpinnings of our Church by promotion of their own vile expedience, unfaithful clerical enablers ‘of sin and inhumanity are leading as many away from the One True God as those who hold Him in contempt.
