The Archbishop with authority over Democrat Nancy Pelosi, Salvatore Cordileone, wrote in an essay over the weekend that ex-communication from the Catholic Church remains an option for Catholic politicians who insist on publicly supporting abortion.

As The Daily Wire reports:

Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, the archbishop of Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) home diocese in San Francisco, California, penned in an essay for The Washington Post over the weekend noting that excommunication from the Catholic Church remains an option for those Catholic politicians who insist on being publicly supportive of abortion in violation of Church teachings.

The archbishop said, plainly, in his appeal to Catholic politicians to resist support for abortion, particularly in light of abortion restrictions taking effect in places like Texas, that “[y]ou cannot be a good Catholic and support expanding a government-approved right to kill innocent human beings.”

“This summer, we provoked an uproar by discussing whether public officials who support abortion should receive the sacrament of the Eucharist,” Cordileone wrote. “We were accused of inappropriately injecting religion into politics, of butting in where we didn’t belong.”

Archbishop Cordileone went on to suggest that today’s Church leaders follow in the footsteps of Catholic leaders during the Civil Rights movement, who used excommunication and the threat of excommunication as a way of driving home how unacceptable it was to support racism.

Pelosi has consistently claimed that there is no conflict between her Catholic faith and her support for abortion.

Everyone, who needs to be corrected should be. Wise counsel will inform the unwise of the error and then, and only then, if the subject still refuses to see the light, does a superior take the necessary corrective action, after the proper counseling, to ex-communicate. The true purpose of ex-communication is not to separate, per se, but to correct, with a gentle, but firm reprimand.

It’s about time he moves to excommunicate this female! She has been living in defiance of the “no communion” ruling for nearlya decade! That was issued in O’s 1st term, if memory serves… it’s LONG past time the Catholic church upholds its own rules.

As a Catholic, I don’t understand why it is taking so long for Archbishop Cordeleone to ex-communicate Nancy Pelosi? For years Pelosi has had the same support level for abortions. You can’t be a Marxist Socialist and a Catholic at the same time, and she had proven her identity.
