By a strong majority, the Florida House passed a bill early Thursday morning that would protect thousands of unborn babies every year by banning abortions after 15 weeks.

Action News JAX reports the pro-life bill passed just after midnight in a 78-39 vote, and now heads to the state Senate, which also appears likely to pass it. Gov. Ron DeSantis supports the bill.

The Reducing Fetal and Infant Mortality Act (House Bill 5) would ban abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. Exceptions would be allowed if the mother’s life is at risk or the unborn baby has a fatal disorder. The bill, which would go into effect July 1, also includes measures to reduce infant mortality and a requirement that abortion facilities report suspected human trafficking cases to the state.

Pro-life leaders estimate the bill could save as many as 5,000 unborn babies from abortions every year in Florida, and its lead sponsor, state Rep. Erin Grall, R-Vero Beach, expressed strong hopes that the U.S. Supreme Court soon will rule such legislation constitutional.

IF I could, I would move to FL. I live in a Blue state, and I feel more like we are hated and disrespected, if we are conservative. They want to rule us like we have no functioning brain or our own interests and opinions. Being a Christian is another thing the Libtards hate. We HAVE to get our country back and that means turning the Blue states to bright Red!

“Heavenly Father, I thank you for giving OUR wonderful Governor Ron DeSantis the wisdom to move this legislation forward and for all of the previous legislation he has championed to keep Floridians safe and free. I ask that YOU continue to bless Floridians as Communism takes over the rest of what was once America. All these things I Pray, I Pray in the name of Jesus Christ our LORD, Amen.”
