A pro-abortion lawmaker wants to ban erectile dysfunction drugs in retaliation for Indiana passing a bill to ban killing babies in abortions. As LifeNews reported, the Indiana legislature has become the first in the nation to pass an abortion ban after the Supreme Court overturned Roe. The measure went to Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb, who signed the bill into law almost immediately on Friday night.
The Indiana state House approved a bill to ban most abortions and tonight the state Senate voted to confirm the changes to the initial bill 28-19. With Holcomb’s signature, the law will go into effect on September 15th unless abortion activists take it to court and get an injunction beforehand.
House members advanced the abortion ban on a 62-38 vote after confirming the law would allow exceptions for rape, incest and to protect the life of the mother. It also allows abortions if the baby has a condition not compatible with life. Abortion in cases of rape or incest can only be done in the first 10 weeks. The bill does not affect birth control or treatment for ectopic pregnancies.
Democrat state Rep. John Bartlett proposed banning erectile dysfunction drugs, saying:
“Some may think this is a joke, but it takes two for a pregnancy to come about, and to put all the onus onto a woman, I just think it’s unfair,” Bartlett told fellow lawmakers in the Indiana House of Representatives last week. “We’re forcing young girls to be mothers but not forcing the men to be fathers. If in fact pregnancy is an act of God, then impotency must be an act of God. I think the onus should be put on men for these pregnancies.”
