Governor Ron DeSantis has easily won an important straw poll conducted by the Students for Life of America at their summit this past Saturday in Washington, DC. DeSantis won with 54% of the vote and in second place was Donald trump with 19%. During the March for Life on Friday, Trump merch, gear or presence in anyway was non-existent. On the other hand, “Ready for Ron” had a vendor table and students could be overheard voicing their excitement over a possible 2024 presidential run from the governor. The National Student Director of Ready for Ron, Dylan Dean, says is not surprised by the results of the poll, “While others may focus on insults, ego, or media hype, DeSantis is focused on service and results, and young people know it.”

Donald Trump lost a lot of support with the pro-life community  a few weeks ago by stating he wasn’t to blame for the midterm election loss. “I was 233-20! It was the ‘abortion issue,’ poorly handled by many Republicans, especially those that firmly insisted on No Exceptions, even in the case of Rape, Incest, or Life of the mother, that lost large numbers of Voters. Also, the people that pushed so hard, for decades, against abortion, got their wish from the U.S. Supreme Court, & just plain disappeared, not to be seen again.”

Live Action’s president, Lila Rose, shot back at Trump’s comments, “Hardcore pro-lifers won re-election in states across the country; bad candidates & bad campaign strategies lost. Trump is way out of line on life, he does not have a pulse on where his potential base is.”

“The fault of midterm losses has ZERO to do the pro-life cause and more to do with poor election strategies that the Republican Party has been employing for years.
Hardcore pro-lifers won re-election in states across the country; bad candidates & bad campaign strategies lost.” Rose continued

President of Students for Life, Kristan Hawkins, published an op-ed earlier this month also taking on Trump, “Not only did Trump throw the baby out with the proverbial bathwater, but he also tossed out their defenders as well, those quiet, hardworking volunteers who make up the ground game of GOP politics – the door knockers, the phone bank callers and texters, and the donors who put principle first and ask their leaders to do the same.”
