Watch: Governor Glenn Youngkin Joins The Virginia March For Life

Thousands of pro-life Virginians showed up to the 5th annual Virginia March for Life in Richmond on Wednesday. The march has significant meaning this year, after the Supreme Court’s Dobbs ruling sent the issue of abortion back to state legislatures. Speakers at the march included Attorney General Jason Miyares, Delegate Emily Brewer, and Victoria Cobb, President of The Family Foundation. Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, a pro-lifer, also joined the march and walked for many blocks with the crowd, stopping along the way to take photos. Governor Youngkin fought for a Virginia bill last week that would have banned abortions in the state after 15 weeks. But Democrats defeated a pro-life measure, proving once again Democrats are the party of abortion up to birth. The bill would have put a stop to abortions on unborn babies who are definitely capable of feeling pain. A majority of Virginians support the bill but just not Democrats in the state legislature. The Senate Committee on Education and Health voted multple pro-life measures down on party-line votes, with only Republicans voting to protect babies from abortion. Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin’s spokeswoman, Macaulay Porter, said Senate Democrats had “solidified their extreme position.” She also said Virginians want “a reasonable compromise on abortion” and Democrats acted against their people by “advocating for abortion anytime and anywhere.”

Any pro-life bill that is sent to Virginia’s Senate from the Republican controlled House of Delegates is sure to meet the same demise as well. According to a survey of Virginians done by the WPA Intelligence for Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America and the Virginia Family Foundation:

Governor Glenn Youngkin was big supporter of the bill, telling the Virginia legislature, “When it comes to unborn children, we can come together. We can choose life, and choose to support mothers, fathers and families in difficult decisions,” Youngkin said. “It is clear Virginians want fewer abortions, not more.”
