A deadly crash took place in Chicago’s Northwest Side Tuesday evening. The crash left an elderly woman dead while wounding six others – including two children.  According to Chicago law enforcement, the crash took place in West Peterson where at least two vehicles, a Kia SUV and a Saturn sedan collided. The Kia was driven by a 46-year-old man and the Saturn by an 18-year-old man.

Police are saying now that the Kia was traveling eastbound with five passengers when the Saturn struck them when they entered an intersection.

According to NBC Chicago, fire officials had initially reported that a total of eight victims were taken to the hospital with seven having critical injuries. Later police clarified seven people were injured.

Among those in the accident were 78-year-old woman Zainab Suboh oh Highland, Indiana, who was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The 46-year-old driver and a 36-year-old woman whom were both in fair condition. An 81-year-old passenger, in critical condition as of Tuesday night. The 18-year-old driver who was in reported fair condition. And two children, a 3-year-old and a 7-year-old who were both in fair condition as of Tuesday night.

Police are still investigating the accident. They have brought in the Major Accidents unit to further investigate. It is still unclear if there were more cars involved, based on reports. Those affected by the incident are still receiving treatment as well.
