During a speech at her alma mater, Howard University, Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a message to Republicans, warning them not to interfere her administration’s mission to kill innocent babies. Harris threatened GOP leaders that voters are “not playing” when it comes to defending abortion rights. At one point Harris grabbed the microphone and began walking around the stage as she delivered her remarks. Though she had an outline on the podium, aides said that the vast majority of her 20-minute speech was delivered spontaneously.

“These extremist so-called leaders would dare to tell us what is in our own best interest. Well I say, I trust the women of America. I trust the people of America,” Harris said to the crowd. “So don’t get in our way because if you do, we’re going to stand up, we’re going to organize and we’re going to speak up and we’re going to say we’re not having that, we’re not playing that!”

For the majority of her address, Harris focused on abortion, speaking passionately to the audience. She lambasted pro-lifers and highlighted the importance of providing easy access to abortion.

“They’re also saying they’re going to ban abortion. Six weeks into a pregnancy? Well, clearly most of them don’t even know how a woman’s body works because most women don’t even know they’re pregnant at that stage of a pregnancy,” said Harris.

Harris’s message to Republicans was clear: the Biden administration is prepared to make the issue of abortion a center-piece issue. The GOP will need to match Harris’ commitment to the issue and meet Biden head-on in order to expose their horrifying view of human rights.
