On Tuesday, Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley delivered a speech from the headquarters of SBA Pro-Life America in Arlington, Virginia. During her address, Haley called for a Republican consensus on the issue of abortion. Haley urged fellow Republican candidates to take a stronger stance on abortion while pointing out the lunacy of Democratic arguments.

Haley stated, “The pro-life laws that have passed in strongly Republican states will not be approved at the federal level. That’s just a fact notwithstanding what the Democrat fearmongers say. They say Republicans are about to ban all abortions nationwide and send women to prison. These wildly false claims amplified by a sympathetic media are not designed to do anything other than score political points.”

“Pro-life political leaders and candidates should not put up with being demonized. We should call out the extremism on the left,” she added.

During her address, Haley shared personal anecdotes, including her husband’s experience of being adopted and her own challenges with infertility, as a basis for her anti-abortion beliefs. She also highlighted her record as an anti-abortion advocate during her time in South Carolina’s state legislature and as governor.

Haley’s remarks come in the wake of criticism by the SBA Pro-Life America towards former President Trump, who had stated that the issue of abortion access should be left up to the states rather than the federal government. Haley’s speech indicates her intention to take a firm stance on the anti-abortion agenda and rally fellow Republicans to do the same.
