A Long Island, NY woman was arrested on April 4 in connection to 2021 allegations that she had taken money from group home residents who had intellectual disabilities. While the incidents had occurred back in 2021 it wasn’t until April 4th that Suffolk County Police finally arrested the woman identified as Kathleen Will. Will was an employee at Independent Group Home Living in Manorville at the time of the crimes. She has since been fired.

What Happened?
In February of 2022 a manager of the group home was doing routine paperwork when it was realized that money was missing from seven different residents. That is when the manager contacted the Suffolk County Police Department and filed a complaint. This complaint launched a long investigation that has only now resulted in an arrest and an accusation.

Charges?
After the investigation, Fifth Precinct Crime Section Officers arrested former employee – Kathleen Will. Will was charged with stealing $200 from seven different residents. They are saying that this occurred on November 19, 2021. The group home has since said that Will, who is a previous employee, has not been employed by the home since December of 2021. Will, who is a 35-year-old resident of near by Mastic Beach, was charged with 7 counts of Petit Larceny. She was also issued a Desk Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to appear in court on April 24. She has not yet officially been charged.
