In response to a pro-life heavy-weight threatening to withhold their endorsement, former President Donald Trump released a video promising to continue to fight against abortion. Trump stated that he would work for pro-life principles, saying, “I will stand proudly in defense of innocent life just as I did for 4 very powerful strong years because every child, born and unborn, is a sacred gift from God.” Last week, Trump released a statement from his campaign, that he believes that “abortion is an issue that should be decided at state level.” Susan B. Anthony (SBA) Pro-Life America did not respond to Trump’s comments well, saying that it will not support any candidate that does not embrace a minimum 15-week standard on late-term abortions.

Major Pro-Life Heavyweight Threatens to Withold Support From Trump

“President Trump’s assertion that the Supreme Court returned the issue of abortion solely to the states is a completely inaccurate reading of the Dobbs decision and is a morally indefensible position for a self-proclaimed pro-life presidential candidate to hold,” SBA Pro-Life America president Marjorie Dannenfelser said in a statement responding to the Trump campaign.

President Trump seemed to take note, as he quickly released a video this weekend where he announced:

From my first days in office I took historic action to protect the unborn,  reinstated the Mexico City Policy, stopped taxpayer funding for abortion providers and, at the United Nations, I made clear that global bureaucrats have no business attacking the sovereignty of nations that protect life.

I was the first president to attack, as you all know, the March for Life rally in Washington.

I appointed over 300 judges to fill the federal bench with pro-Constitution warriors who interpret the laws as written. I faced down vile attacks to confirm our three great Supreme Court justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett.

Trump will work hard to keep his pro-life base as they make up a substantial proportion of the Republican base. The pro-life vote will be crucial for him to capture in order to win the presidential primary.
