Pro-life advocates are set to celebrate a historic moment in Washington, DC, on June 24th, as tens of thousands gather to mark the one-year anniversary of the landmark Dobbs v. Jackson decision honoring life. The decision allows states to protect unborn children from abortion once again, a move applauded across the country. With over 60,000 lives saved, including many pre-born babies after 12 weeks, a pro-life celebration at the National Mall is essential.

Thousands are expected to participate in the “National Celebrate Life Day,” led by Students for Life of America, 40 Days for Life, Live Action, and Heartbeat International. Rally attendees will gather in front of the Lincoln Memorial beginning at 10:30 a.m., with keynote speakers, Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch, who led the Dobbs case. The rally concludes with a pro-life gala at 7 p.m. at The Renaissance in Washington, D.C.

The event calls attention to the legacy and the impact of the Dobbs verdict, which upheld life and value for every pre-born child. “We celebrate the fact that half of all states prevent abortions after 12 weeks one year after Roe’s reversal, but we’re just getting started, and far more can be done at the federal level to protect innocent lives from the violence of abortion,” says Tina Whittington, executive vice president of Students for Life of America.

For nearly 50 years, the Roe v. Wade ruling allowed states to permit under all circumstances an abortion. Since the Dobbs verdict, the states have stood behind the idea of pro-life. Notably, almost fifteen states have passed strict abortion laws while others continue to push their efforts in court.

As supporters gather to mark the landmark decision, pro-life leaders argue that the event seeks to encourage efforts to safeguard the right to life for every pre-born child in America.

This call is driven by the Fourteenth Amendment, which states that the government cannot “deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.”

The event is a hopeful reminder that America can become a place that values life and upholds morals in society.
