Today marks a year from the historic Supreme Court decision, Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, that successfully revised the standing Roe v. Wade ruling. A noticeable drop in the number of abortions across a significant portion of the United States has been observed over this past year.

A recent report, revealed an encouraging change, noting a reduction of 24,290 legal abortions between July 2022 and March 2023, when compared to the figures before the Dobbs decision.

Taking a closer look at the details behind the figure of 24,290, the report offers further insight. This number was derived from the subtraction of the increase of 69,285 legal abortions in pro-abortion states from the figure of 93,575 fewer legal abortions in states that implemented at least a week-long ban or significantly limited abortion in the nine-month period following Dobbs.

Brian Burch, the president of Catholic Vote, also released letter on the anniversary:

25,000 living babies.

That’s just the estimate of how many children have been saved from certain death in the last year.

Recent data show that somewhere between 24,000 and 26,000 children are alive today because the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade.

That was exactly one year ago today.

We will never forget that moment.

Because the Dobbs decision was a watershed moment in our nation’s history. After 50 years of a merciless federal abortion regime. After 63 million deaths. After the unseen labors of countless pro-life Americans – many of whom did not live to see their work fulfilled.

It was a moment to celebrate, to remember the lives lost, the great deeds done in the fight, and to anticipate the thousands, even millions of children who will now get a chance at life.

And so every year, we will celebrate June 24, the birthday of our post-Roe America.
