The New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU), a localized branch of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), is requesting New York state force a new Catholic hospital to agree to commit abortions if it wants to open.

The Buffalo News reported this week that NYCLU fellow Gabriella Larios “denied Monday that the group opposes a new hospital for Lockport or that its recommendations, if adopted, would infringe on Catholic Health’s religious liberty.” According to the news outlet, Larios said, “What we are trying to do here is ensure is that health care is available to all people – comprehensive health care, reproductive health care, end-of-life care. This is not a religious liberty issue.”
However, Larios’ page on the Equal Justice Works website points to a mission that undermines religion’s involvement in any way with health care, and reports that Larios actively works against organizations that use religious beliefs to uphold their practices. Her profile says in part:
All across the country, religion is being weaponized to deny access to health care and services relating to reproductive and LGBTQ care. In recent years, there has been an uptick in the number of mergers between secular and religious hospitals; today at least one in six hospital beds is in a Catholic facility.
Religiously affiliated health care providers often follow religious and ethical directives prohibiting certain kinds of treatment, including miscarriage management and gender-affirming surgery. These directives depart greatly from medical standards of care, threatening patients’ health and lives and inflicting dignitary harms.
Larios does not expand upon her claim that religious hospitals — which are required to have the same certifications as any hospital — would “depart greatly from medical standards of care.”

“…religion is being weaponized to deny access to health care and services relating to reproductive and LGBTQ care.” NO. These words are upside down, backwards and inside out. The Leftist pro-ABORTION dogma is being weaponized to undermine and cancel the conscience of woman and to cancel the religion that feeds that conscience. ‘My body, my choice?’ NO. Our bodies belong to the Lord. The Lord has ordained it otherwise. A woman who becomes pregnant is now WITH CHILD. Her body is no longer her own; it now is home and sanctuary to an innocent child.
Aren`t enough baby slaughter houses already?
That would be like forcing planned Parenthood to work towards adopting babies instead of aborting them. I am sure thier attorneys would come up with a good argument why that would be against their constitutional rights. Believe it or not Catholics have rights too.
