Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville from Alabama has stated that he will continue to prevent the Senate from approving all Department of Defense nominees put forward by President Joe Biden until the Pentagon reverses its policy of reimbursing travel expenses and granting paid time off to service members and their families seeking abortion. The senator had initially made the announcement to block all DOD nominees on February 17, just a day after the new abortion policy was outlined by the Pentagon.

During a speech on the Senate floor, Tuberville stated that he will keep presenting facts for as long as his colleague, Michael Bennet, wants him to. Bennet had attempted to force a vote on the nominees, which led to an angry response from Tuberville. The senator referred to a January report by Defense News in which Bennet had threatened to object to Biden’s nominees over Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s “refusal” to meet with him on the decision to move the US Space Command from Colorado to Alabama. Tuberville also mentioned a previous hold by Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Illinois, of over 1,000 military promotions.

“Federal law only allows the military to provide abortions in three very narrow circumstances: rape, incest and threat to the life of the mother. Yet the Biden administration has turned the DOD into an abortion travel agency. They did it by using just a memo,” Tuberville said.

Tuberville responded to Bennet’s claim that his holding of Biden’s defense nominees was “unprecedented” by pointing out the aforementioned incidents. He went on to state that he wished the Democrats were equally concerned about the growing recruitment crisis in the enlisted ranks of the US military, which he blamed on the Biden administration. Tuberville accused the armed forces of having been indoctrinated with liberal ideologies.

“The Biden administration wants abortion on demand for not just those enlisted in our military, but their family members as well. This would expand the policy to millions of people. Now, taxpayers, the American taxpayers are on the hook to cover non-chargeable, paid time off and travel cost for abortions for our military and their families. Again, nobody voted for this. This goes beyond the law,” Added Tuberville.

The Pentagon policy in question allows service members and their dependents to be reimbursed for their travel expenses and granted paid time off to receive abortion services at military hospitals or clinics. The policy was announced on February 16, and Tuberville’s hold on the nominees began the very next day.

The Republicans in Congress should gridlock the entire Biden Tyranny Agenda until Jan. 2025 as much as they can. Also in the House at budget time defund as much of the D.O.J., EPA, IRS, and Education Dept. as possible. Better for the Federal Government to be able to do little as possible, than how it is currently operating.
