Serena Williams and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, made a big announcement at the Met Gala Monday night. The tennis star and her husband are expecting their second child! The pair are already parents to a 5-year-old daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. With this announcement, Williams mentioned that she is doing good and is feeling better without the secret under her belt!

During the Vogue live stream of the Met Gala, the expecting mom mentioned that she was “doing good now,” adding “I can breathe” as she was finally done hiding the secret.

Williams was accompanied by her husband at this year’s Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year guests of the famed event were asked to dress to match the theme “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” to pay homage to the late designer who passed in 2019 at the age of 85. Williams wore a black dress adorned with silver embellishments, see-through sleeves, and a white tulle mermaid skirt designed by Gucci. While Ohanian wore a black tuxedo.

Williams who stepped away from Tennis after her last match at the U.S. Open on September 2 told fans in an essay to Vogue, at that time, that she was stepping away to focus on family. She had said that she “never wanted to have to choose between tennis and family,” adding that she didn’t “think it’s fair.” The acclaimed tennis pro had said that if she were a male in her profession she wouldn’t be writing that Vogue essay instead she would still be competing. After losing her last match Williams shared advice her younger daughter gave her with Drew Berrymore, the host of “The Drew Barrymore Show.” Baby Alexis told Williams, “‘It’s OK, mama. You just have to do what you feel,’” which Williams said made her so proud.

Williams and Ohanian also shared the news on Instagram and Twitter after their Met Gala appearance. On Instagram, Williams shared a photo of her and her husband with the caption, “Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala.” Ohanian shared the same photo on Twitter accompanying the message, “Mama & Papa love this parenting thing, so we’re back at it 😁 and @olympiaohanian is gonna be the best Big Sister—she’s been asking & praying for this for a minute. #MetGala”
